The decision was taken by the ISU Council following the federation's 60th Ordinary Congress, held in June in Tenerife, Spain.
The new committee will be chaired by Dr. Ruben Ambartsumov of Ukraine, a specialist in sports medicine. According to the ISU, he has worked with the international federation for more than twenty years.
Dr. Eunkuk Kim of South Korea has been appointed Vice-Chair. A specialist in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, he has supported the ISU's medical activities for more than a decade.
The committee consists of eight members. Its expanded responsibilities now explicitly include nutrition, mental wellness and injury prevention, alongside other sports medicine matters.
These developments concern all disciplines governed by the ISU, including synchronized skating. However, the announcement does not outline any new medical measures specifically for synchro teams. It primarily confirms the committee's broader responsibilities.
