Senior Free Program
It was no big surprise when Helsinki Rockettes picked the victory of the first Finnish qualification competition on Sunday. They skated their free program “Requiem” in plentiful decorated shining dresses with good speed and excellent skating skills, earning 148.11 points. They got the gold medals with a total score of 217.02.Â
After last year´s disappointments, Team Unique proved that they really are in the game again and showed the audience a skillful and emotional program, “The Unbearable Lightness of Being,” receiving 146.21 points. In bright blue dresses, they seemed to deeply enjoy their skating and it was rewarded with silver medal when their overall points were 213.70.

This time Marigold IceUnity was left quite far behind the two best teams. They had four falls and it cost them a lot. They earned 129.66 points finishing with 196.95 overall, which secured third place. MIU also introduced its new stylish gray and red costumes. The team now has several weeks to further improve their program "The Elements" so that it can be seen in its full power.
Dream Edges Senior didn´t manage as well as were the expectations after a good short program and last season´s good success. They had two falls and they scored 128.61 points in their free program "Seili – the Island of Souls”. The choreography included some very beautiful parts, and there is a lot of potential in their becoming performances. They ended up staying in fourth place with 194.79 points.
Dream Edges Senior didn´t manage as well as were the expectations after a good short program and last season´s good success. They had two falls and they scored 128.61 points in their free program "Seili – the Island of Souls”. The choreography included some very beautiful parts, and there is a lot of potential in their becoming performances. They ended up staying in fourth place with 194.79 points.
Junior Free Program
Despite three falls Team Fintastic managed to keep the first position. Their free program “Human – The world within” earned the best choreography scores and a total score of 107.60. Thanks to the well-executed short program, their overall points were 172.62.
Musketeers succeeded perfectly in black and white costumes and skated joyful their program “Steampunk”. With no errors, they earned the best result of the day - 110.45 points - and got the silver medal with a total score of 167.01.
Also, Valley Bay Synchro had three unfortunate falls. Anyway, they managed to stay on the podium with overall points of 163.95. Their program “Wheel of Fortune” brought them 103.44 points.

Team Mystique was fifth. Their free program “Ghost of Me” went quite well, giving them the third best short program points 103.51. In this competition, their total amount of points raised up to 161.78.
This season all the costumes of the Junior teams are remarkably stylish and well-designed, fitting the themes. The chosen music is mostly serious or peaceful; not very many cheerful tones were heard.

Elite 12

Lumineers, the only team in this division in Finland, skated to the theme "Movement”. The program was peaceful and balanced and their simple light grey dresses suited well to the whole. They had two deductions and they earned 116.69 points on Sunday and 171.10 overall.
Novice - Group 2

On Sunday, it was time for the second group of Novice teams. The competition was very entertaining because of its many exciting and innovative choreographies.
Valley Bay Synchronics won the gold medal, scoring 76.10 points. They skated their theme, "Flying," beautifully and airy in light blue-lilac dresses.
To their great delight, Ice Fantasy finished in second place. Their exciting program "Nagini - from circus artist to Voldemort alley" had a good speed and was well presented with a score of 67.94.
CrystalBlades won the bronze medal, only slightly different from their rivals: 67.10 points. Their theme this year is "Embla's story," and they perform it in gilded dresses.
The next qualifying competition in Finland for the ISU teams will take place next month.
