In order to have more evaluation possibilities, the range of the Grades of Execution (GOE) has been expanded from -3 to +3 to now -5 to +5 in all figure skating disciplines. There are now a total of 10 Grades of Execution.
A new Senior team in Switzerland! Starlight Team Seniors is made up of 20 skaters between the age of 15 and 27 years old. Skating last season in the Mixed Age division, the team did a big step forward during the summer to join the Senior category. Interview with Sabrina, the Captain of this new Swiss team.
As the first NSW competition of the season, the Sydney Synchronised Festival is an important event that helps teams gauge their developing programs against competition prior to the State and National Championships. It took place over the weekend of the 15th and 16th of September at Penrith Ice Palace in Sydney. While a majority of the participating teams are based in NSW, there were a number of interstate teams present, most notably Adelaide Ice Magic from South Australia and Infusion from Western Australia.
The Australian competitive season kicked off over the weekend with Sydney Synch Festival - the only major interstate competition outside of the National Championships. The competition is of great value to teams, not only because it is another performance opportunity, but also because it ends with short one-on-one feedback sessions between each team and the Tech Panel, then the Judges.
Elin Bryngelsson Lidestedt is a former skater, now coach in Nacka near Stockholm, and media producer from Sweden. She published last year a long film about synchronized skating that has been broadcasted in her country. This documentary will be available this season also for a few skaters.
The Cup of Dresden is a newly initiated international synchronized skating competition for non-ISU categories. The event will be held on February 23, 2019 at the EnergieVerbund Arena in Dresden, Germany. Interview with the public relations manager, Claudia Gallwitz.
