The Mixed Age category honored in Basel


The best Mixed Age teams from the whole Europe were gathered in Switzerland this weekend. This year, the international Mixed Age Trophy 2016 was organized in the city of Basel. 14 teams from 5 different countries were engaged. The victory went to the Swiss Snowflakes, Italy won the silver medal and France the bronze.


4 teams from Italy, 4 from France, 4 represented Switzerland, 1 team from Great Britain and 1 other from Belgium... A total of 14 teams tried to win the Trophy 2016 in Basel this Saturday. This international competition took place for the 2nd time. The purpose of this event is that the best European teams face up at the end of the season.

The results

The Swiss Snowflakes retained their title this year with 59,66 points. The team from Huttwil and coached by Monika Schneider already won the competition last year in Le Havre, France. The skaters presented a free program on the racing’s theme. The Snowflakes power, « Flöcki power » as the skaters like to say, strucked again !

At the second place, an Italian team : Flying Angels. This team from Rome did in Basel a very expressive free in some blue costumes. They took the silver with 53,17 points.

The bronze was for Mozaïks, from Louviers, France. Their great funny program has been rewarded with a total of 52,30 points. Mozaïks astonished the public and the judges with a free on Bugs Bunny theme.

A second French team followed, Atlantides from Bordeaux. This team skated with a lot of grace for a total of 51,56 points. Shining Blades from Italy placed 5th (49,94 points) and Onyx from Basel, Switzerland, finished 6th (48,21 points). Great Britain and Belgium were also represented in this international competition.
