First day of competition at the Cup of Berlin

On Friday evening, Novices Advanced and Mixed Age teams presented their free program. Junior and Senior divisions skated their short. This is what you have to know after this first day of competition!


The competition started with the performances of the Mixed Age category. With the withdrawal of Fire Arrow from Ukraine who didn’t compete, there were 3 participating teams from Germany. The victory went to the United Angels, dressed in grey, who earned 43.78 points. Munich Synergy took the silver medal after presenting an interesting program with a creative choreography (36.52). Skating to a jazzy music, Starlets placed 3rd with a total of 33.90 points.

In the Novice Advanced division, Finland teams achieved the best results. Diamond Edges from Kaarina won the competition with 57.95 points. Despite 1 fall in the circle element, the team did a very powerful program. Team Ice Effect, also representing Finland, took the second place in Berlin. Dressed in black and green costumes, the team did a score of 49.53 points. In the 3rd position, Skating Graces from Germany (36.68 points). Team Together who skated to Wonderwoman soundtrack placed just behind with a score of 36.38 points. Team Berlin Juniors finished 5th with 33.67 points.

Huges scores for Skyliners

On Friday evening, Junior and Senior teams presented also their short program in front of the German audience. In those two divisions, Skyliners teams (USA) placed first with a large advantage over the other teams.

In the Junior division, Skyliners received 64.06 points for their short program. It’s nearly 11 points more than their compatriots Starlights (53.23 points) provisionally 2nd and Valley Bay Synchro (FIN) who placed for the moment 3rd with 49.13 points. Stella Polaris, Team Jeanne d’Arc, Cool Dreams, Team Berlin Juniors, and Angels completed the rankings.

Skyliners also did the best performance in the Senior category. The team from New York earned a total of 67.14 points for its short program followed by Miami University (55.95 points) and Team Berlin 1 (55.48 points). The Netherlands is also represented by Team Illumination and Team Ice United.



Competition’s schedule

The free programs will be skated on Saturday afternoon in the Sportforum Hohenschönhausen. Juniors will start at 16:30 PM (local time) followed by the Seniors at 18:00 PM. The competition will end around 18:45 PM in Berlin.
